And here's what it looked like when we were all done. Oscar Santos, Ervin Globo, and Samuel Montás led the design and supervision of the project and the teen leaders, both Dominican and American, did a lot of the grunt work. We were able to salvage, repair, and repurpose some of the old equipment and then build new structures and play areas as well mostly using recycled materials such as old tires and palates.
The service learning and community project for the summer of 2018 was to repair and renovate the playground for the Pre-K and Kindergarten students at the school in Madre Vieja where the camp takes place and where the Montás children all went to school.
