2020 CAMPAIGN: Send a Girl to Softball

¡Send a Girl to Softball!

2019 CAMPAIGN: Softball Equipment Drive

Sarah Capute, one of the camp's teen leaders is an avid softball player. Sarah

and a friend collected loads and loads of gently used softball equipment which we shipped down to the D.R. Here's where the equipment went:

The Bandits: A local softball team in San Cristobal

Las Galeras Girls' Softball Club (Samaná)

Because of the current health crisis Sarah will not be able to run another equipment drive this year as she had been planning to do. Instead she has reached out to her network to raise funds. All funds will go to schools in the Dominican Republic to help provide equipment and nutrition to young girls starting out in softball.  Donations can be made through the “Donate” button on this page.  (Please add “SOFTBALL” in the PayPal notes)

This is the letter that Sarah sent out:

Baseball is king in The Dominican Republic. Many, many boys start playing baseball when they can barely walk and grow up dreaming of becoming the next Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, or Robinson Canó. But, what about the girls? Slowly but surely girls are beginning to get into the action as softball teams are popping up in various parts of the country. In our endeavor to promote gender equity we want to help

out.
